Three Drought Friendly Plants

1. Showy Penstemon
This shrub is native to arid coastal areas and requires very little water. It is a perennial with bright lavender, pink, and purple flowers which bloom from late spring through early summer.

2. California Sycamore
A favorite of hummingbirds and butterflies, this California native tree is very drought friendly and is also a fast grower. Its leaves are large and palm shaped with a woolly texture to them.

3. California Bay Laurel
Another tree that is native to California, the Bay Laurel has multiple trunks and can grow into a great shade tree. Although it grows best with a good amount of water, it is able to sustain itself through a drought.
